Two Saints has joined with more than 110 homelessness organisations across England in signing an open letter to Rachel Reeves highlighting the threat of the National Insurance hike to sector services.
The open letter was coordinated by Homeless Link, which estimates that the changes to National Insurance will cost homelessness services between £50m and £60m per year.
Rachel Reeves, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, announced the rise in the Budget last month.
Instead, the letter calls for a relief for the homelessness sector: “We note that you have made an arrangement to pay a rebate to the public sector for additional costs of National Insurance.
“We ask that you provide a similar rebate or relief to the homelessness sector – who provide vital services for the public sector – and require MHCLG and local authorities to cover the increased costs by increasing the value of grants and contracts for 2025-26 onwards.”
