Two Saints has today expressed sadness and disappointment that there will no longer be funding for the homelessness services they run at 101 Gosport Road, Fareham, and Acton Lodge, Fareham, resulting in the closure of the supported accommodation from April 2026.
Funding changes mean drop-in community support sessions for the area will also be withdrawn.
The councils involved say they are working on alternative kinds of provision.
Charlotte Buckingham, Executive Director of Client Services at Two Saints, said: “We’re deeply saddened that these services are coming to an end. Hampshire County Council took the decision to withdraw funding following consultation in 2024. Fareham Borough Council and Gosport Borough Council have tried to find alternative funding sources but are unable to fund these services in the future. We appreciate commissioners have had to make some very difficult choices across all local services. We have done everything possible to advocate for the people we support and to try to prevent this outcome. But sadly, it was not within our control.”
Two Saints’ priority now is to support every client affected. About 60 people used the services last year.
Staff are already working with each person still experiencing homelessness to explore every available housing option, and prepare for what comes next.
Charlotte added: “Our focus now is on supporting each person affected – helping them to understand the changes, explore their options, and prepare as best they can for life after the service ends.”
But, still, Two Saints remain extremely worried for their clients.
Charlotte said, “These are some of the most marginalised people in our community who have intensive support needs, and we continue to be extremely concerned for their wellbeing. We will work with partners to do everything we can to help them stay safe and find a place to call home.”
The closures also place 18 members of Two Saints staff at risk of redundancy. Two Saints is consulting with those affected and will seek redeployment opportunities wherever possible.
Two Saints is currently reviewing future options for the buildings as they will no longer be able to be used in this way.
