Yesterday, Rachel Reeves, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, set out the Autumn Budget – the Government’s plan for spending and tax in the year ahead.
In it, she announced plans to build more social housing, to consult on possible multi-year rent settlement, and £233 million of extra spending to prevent homelessness in 2025‑26.
The Government says that this will help to prevent rises in the number of families in temporary accommodation and will help to prevent rough sleeping.
Richard, our Chief Executive, said: “We welcome all moves to get Britain building more social homes, to consult on possible multi-year rent settlements and to provide additional funding in 2025-2026 to prevent homelessness, and we look forward to learning more as the detail emerges.
“Sadly, the numbers experiencing homelessness are at an all-time high and look set to continue to increase, with funding provided by councils under extreme pressure.
“Like the National Housing Federation, HomelessLink and others, we are concerned at the lack of sustained and sufficient funding for supported housing, which remains in crisis nationally.
“Despite these challenges, Two Saints continues to deliver vital specialist support as we strive to help people build a brighter future.”
