Accommodation Resource Centre (ARC)

ARC is part of Two Saints Housing Association. It provides a floating support service to single homeless people between the ages of 16 – 25 years in Fareham and Gosport.

The opening times are:
Monday – Friday 9am-8pm and
Saturday 9am-4.30pm.

ARC accepts referrals from both statutory and voluntary sectors and young people can refer themselves via the drop-in sessions. All referrals are processed and prioritised according to needs and vulnerability.

ARC provides housing related advice and information. It offers young people ongoing support with accessing and sustaining accommodation available through local councils, private rented accommodation and the Two Saints Supported Lodgings scheme facilitated through ARC.

Resettlement accommodation: This supported house comprises 5 single bedrooms with use of a communal kitchen, bathroom, TV lounge and garden and also offers 1 self contained bed-sit with kitchen facilities. It offers supported accommodation to young people who are beginning to address the issues which have led to their homelessness.

The project is staffed by a part time support worker who, through a support plan process, offers tailored support/advice with welfare benefits, life skills, and active participation into re-education, training or employment programmes suited to a young persons needs.

This project offers in-house training with basic literacy, IT and creative arts which is facilitated through The Base educational programme. This offers young people the chance to embark on a holistic approach to learning in an informal, therapeutic environment where their diverse needs can be met.

Two Saints Supported Lodgings Scheme: Within the floating support service at ARC is a supported lodgings scheme.

This scheme encourages members of the local community with a spare room (sometimes more) to let it out to a young person. ARC staff provide continued support to the landlord and will often act as a mediator between landlord and young person to address any difficulties/issues which may arise during the placement. This often alleviates any concerns the landlord may have prior to a young person being placed with them.

For several years this scheme has proved very successful in enabling young people to gain vital independent living skills, which in turn has helped them to move on and maintain their own tenancy.
