Dene Court provides accommodation for single homeless men and women who are in need of temporary housing and support due to their homelessness. Staff work with service users to help them recognise and address the difficulties associated with being unable to access more appropriate accommodation and/or live fulfilling independent lives. It is our intention that every service user will engage with staff in working towards a more fulfilling and settled way of life that includes moving on to more permanent accommodation that meets their needs. We encourage the empowerment of service users to assist service delivery and to develop better ways of working together in partnership.
There are presently twelve single bedrooms, (reduced from fourteen) whilst the building is being extended to accommodate 18 residents.
The first three years of operating the service has seen the service maintaining 100% occupancy and highlighted the need for extra bed spaces.
During their stay all service users are allocated a key worker and any actions are identified and agreed with the resident. Every effort will be made by staff to help residents to address any difficulties they may experience in accessing appropriate accommodation. Where there is no available accommodation, we can offer a meal or sandwiches, a shower, and a change of clothing. A person's details and needs will be recorded and assistance given to help them access alternative emergency accommodation whenever possible.
