David steps up to the tee!
3 January 2012For Two Saints supporter and avid golfer David Gasson, 2011 is a year he will remember for many years to come. Senior Captain of his golf club and record breaking fundrasing will be hard to beat!
Local community stalwart David has supported Two Saints in Southampton for many years. During 2011 he was honored with the role of Senior Captain at his golf club, East Horton GC in Hampshire, and he elected Two Saints as his charity of the year.
The senior section at East Horton wasted no time in raising money at special events throughout the year, as well as more regular fundraisers. A special presentation was carried out during December when David presented Kate Gladders from Southampton Day centre with an amazing cheque for £3300!
"David is a tireless supporter of homeless people in Southampton." says Helena Kurczynska, Service Manager, Southampton. "He drops in every two weeks with donations, and he helps out at our workshop (which provides volunteer opportunities for residents) and I know he also visits our Day Centre regularly. I was extremely pleased to hear that he had elected us as his charity for the year of his senior captaincy, but I had no idea that he would raise so much - over £3000 was so much more than we could have expected! All of the staff, volunteers and clients in Southampton are hugely grateful to David and his fellow golfers at East Horton, their gift will benefit us in so many ways".
