Its official - Christmas is finally here!
30 November 2011
It's in the shops from August, everyone talks about it from October, but it isn't really Christmas until the Bonneys have switched their lights on!
Peter and Carol Bonney, staunch supporters of the Homeless in Oxford, today (Wednesday 30th November) switched on their annual Christmas light display at their home in Woodfarm, Oxford. The couple have been supporting homeless people in the city for many years, and this year marks their eighth annual Christmas Display. In a ceremony attended by BBC Radio Oxford’s roving reporter Louisa Hannan, as well as completing his switch on Peter unveiled his latest addition to the display - a huge inflatable Santa.
Louise Barnden, Two Saints’ Chief Executive, said: “It’s wonderful and they are wonderful. The amount of stuff the local community give is brilliant. We’re especially thrilled because this is the second year running that they have chosen us as their charity. On the day it's great, they bring clothes and blankets but they also bring food like lovely cakes and other things that are not just for Christmas, like saucepans which we can incorporate into start-up packs for when somebody moves out so it's not just a flash in the pan ”
Do you live in the area of Nuffield Road in Wood farm, Oxford? Why not get along to Peter and Carol’s house? Please help us to support homeless people in Oxford by taking along items such as unwanted clothing, sleeping bags or even unwanted bric-a-brac which the Bonney’s can use to raise funds.
